การวินิจฉัยโรคหัวใจไม่ว่าชนิดใดก็ตาม ขึ้นอยู่กับการพิจารณาของแพทย์ โดยสันนิษฐานจากอาการของผู้ป่วยว่าน่าจะเป็นโรคหัวใจชนิดใด ในขั้นแรกแพทย์มักทำการตรวจร่างกายเบื้องต้นและถามถึงประวัติการป่วยโรคต่าง ๆ ของผู้ป่วย รวมถึงครอบครัวของผู้ป่วยก่อนที่จะทำการวินิจฉัยขั้นต่อไป อาจใช้การเอกซเรย์หน้าอก ตรวจเลือด หรือการวินิจฉัยอื่น ๆ ดังนี้
การตรวจคลื่นไฟฟ้าหัวใจ (ECG) กระบวนการตรวจบันทึกสัญญาณไฟฟ้า เพื่อช่วยให้แพทย์ตรวจหาความผิดปกติของจังหวะและโครงสร้างของหัวใจ ผู้ป่วยอาจได้รับการตรวจคลื่นไฟฟ้าหัวใจขณะพัก หรือการตรวจในระหว่างออกกำลังกายที่เรียกว่าการตรวจสมรรถภาพหัวใจขณะออกกำลังกาย (Exercise Stress Test)
การตรวจบันทึกการทำงานของหัวใจ (Holter Monitoring) การตรวจชนิดนี้ใช้ตรวจหาความผิดปกติของจังหวะการเต้นของหัวใจเพิ่มเติม กรณีที่การตรวจคลื่นไฟฟ้าหัวใจไม่สามารถตรวจพบความผิดปกติ แพทย์จะใช้อุปกรณ์ที่สามารถพกพาได้คอยตรวจบันทึกคลื่นไฟฟ้าหัวใจของคนไข้อย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยเวลาที่ใช้ในการตรวจมักอยู่ที่ 24-72 ชั่วโมง
การตรวจหัวใจด้วยคลื่นความถี่สูง หรือการอัลตราซาวด์ที่หน้าอกเพื่อให้แพทย์มองเห็นการทำงานและโครงสร้างภายในของหัวใจ
การสวนหลอดเลือดหัวใจ โดยการใช้ท่อสั้น ๆ สอดเข้าไปยังหลอดเลือดดำหรือหลอดเลือดแดงบริเวณต้นขาหรือแขน จากนั้นจึงใช้ท่อกลวงที่ยืดหยุ่นและมีความยาวกว่าใส่ไปในท่อสั้นท่อแรก แล้วแหย่หลอดสวนดังกล่าวจนไปถึงหัวใจ โดยระหว่างนี้จะมีภาพจากจอเครื่องเอกซเรย์คอยช่วยนำทาง จากนั้นแพทย์จะวัดแรงดันในห้องหัวใจ หรืออาจฉีดสารทึบแสงเข้าไปด้วย เพื่อช่วยให้มองเห็นการไหลเวียนของเลือดผ่านหัวใจจากเครื่องเอกซเรย์ได้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น และยังช่วยตรวจหาความผิดปกติของหลอดเลือดและลิ้นหัวใจได้ด้วย
การเอกซเรย์คอมพิวเตอร์หัวใจ (CT Scan) เป็นวิธีที่มักใช้วินิจฉัยโรคเกี่ยวกับหัวใจ ในขณะที่ผู้ป่วยนอนลงบนโต๊ะภายในอุปกรณ์รูปร่างคล้ายโดนัท ท่อเอกซเรย์ภายในเครื่องจะปรับหมุนไปรอบ ๆ ตัวผู้ป่วยเพื่อเก็บภาพของหัวใจและบริเวณหน้าอก
การตรวจหัวใจด้วยคลื่นแม่เหล็กไฟฟ้า (MRI) แพทย์จะให้ผู้ป่วยนอนลงบนโต๊ะภายใต้เครื่องมือลักษณะคล้ายท่อ ซึ่งจะปล่อยสนามคลื่นแม่เหล็กไฟฟ้าออกมา สนามแม่เหล็กนี้ทำให้เกิดภาพและช่วยให้แพทย์สามารถประเมินความผิดปกติในหัวใจได้
สาเหตุของ โรคหัวใจ
สาเหตุของโรคหัวใจแต่ละประเภทนั้นแตกต่างกันไป เนื่องจากหัวใจประกอบด้วยการทำงานของหลายส่วนร่วมกัน โรคหัวใจแต่ละชนิดมีสาเหตุดังนี้
สาเหตุของโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจ โรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจหมายถึงความบกพร่องของหลอดเลือดหัวใจ มีหลากหลายชนิด แต่ส่วนมากมักใช้เรียกภาวะหลอดเลือดแดงตีบ ซึ่งเป็นโรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจที่พบได้บ่อยที่สุด และเป็นภาวะที่ทำให้เกิดความเสียหายต่อหัวใจหรือหลอดเลือดหัวใจตามมา
ภาวะหลอดเลือดแดงตีบนี้เกิดจากการสะสมของไขมันในหลอดเลือดแดงที่เพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ จนผนังของหลอดเลือดหนาและแข็งตัว เป็นอุปสรรคต่อการไหลเวียนของเลือดผ่านหลอดเลือดแดง ทำให้อวัยวะและเนื้อเยื่อต่าง ๆ ที่เชื่อมต่อกับหลอดเลือดแดงดังกล่าวได้รับเลือดไปหล่อเลี้ยงไม่เพียงพอ และเกิดภาวะกล้ามเนื้อหัวใจขาดเลือดเฉียบพลันตามมาได้
โรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจตีบจะยิ่งมีความเสี่ยงในผู้ที่มีอายุมาก มีความดันโลหิตสูง คอเลสเตอรอลสูง ผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน และผู้ป่วยโรคอ้วน ส่วนพฤติกรรมการใช้ชีวิตก็เป็นอีกปัจจัยสำคัญ เช่น การรับประทานอาหารไม่มีประโยชน์ ไม่ออกกำลังกาย มีน้ำหนักมากเกิน หรือสูบบุหรี่
