กระจุกกาแล็กซีต่างๆ ก็จะอยู่รวมกันเป็นกลุ่มขนาดใหญ่เรียกว่า โครงสร้างขนาดใหญ่ของจักรวาล ( Large-scale structure of the universe ) โครงสร้างขนาดใหญ่ของจักรวาลมีขนาดใหญ่มาก อาจมีกระจุกกาแล็กซีอยู่นับพันกลุ่ม
โครงสร้างขนาดใหญ่ของจักรวาลที่พบมากที่สุดคือ เส้นใย ( Filament ) ซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มของกระจุกกาแล็กซีที่เชื่อมต่อกันอยู่ เส้นใยเหล่านี้เป็นโครงสร้างที่ยาวและบาง อาจมีความยาวหลายล้านปีแสง
